Humans are in no way civilized if they are capable of this. A gun shot not a needle to be let go gently. Just because he was not going to make the grade. May be it should be done to the people that shoot the horses or that give the order to shoot/murder. Let me tell you those poor horses know what is happening and are terrified. As a Clairvoyant I am aware of these things, and horses are highly intuitive. Pity the human murderer cant feel the fear or terror going through this wonderful pure soul.
